SINCE 1935, TALES OF GOODNESS

Pasticceria Bonifacio was founded in 1935 in the Castello district, taking its name from Michele Bonifacio, the first pastry chef.

Over the years, this establishment has become one of the most beloved pastry shops in Venice, renowned, however, for a savory specialty.

Its mini pizzas for aperitifs are an institution, but its sweets are just as exceptional. Highlights include the Dogaressa, a cake made with chocolate, meringue, and zabaglione, as well as Mammalucchi and fried fritters with raisins, orange, and candied fruits, prepared following a secret recipe.

SWEETS | LA DOGARESSA

Bonifacio has always crafted the Dogaressa, an excellent specialty made exclusively for festive occasions. A symphony of flavors layered over seven tiers, including meringue, puff pastry, and creams, creating an enveloping and unique taste experience.

SWEETS | I MAMMALUCCHI

Born from the passion of master pastry chef Sergio Lotto of Murano, the Mammalucchi are now a delicacy offered during the Carnival season. Bonifacio is one of the few pastry shops in the city that continues this tradition.

SWEETS | FRITTELLE

A famous Carnival tradition, Frittelle are a must at Bonifacio. Still prepared according to the traditional recipe, the classic versions with zabaglione, cream, and Venetian fillings are complemented by other exclusive creations.

SAVORIES | MINI PIZZAS

Bonifacio is renowned for many creations, but what makes it unmistakably famous throughout Venice are its mini bread pizzas. Perfectly paired with a refreshing glass of Prosecco or the traditional Spritz.

Whether it’s a lunch break, an aperitif, a quick morning "ombra," or an end-of-day Spritz, in Venice, these often rhyme with Tramezzino. Bonifacio's three-layered, flavorful sandwiches come in a variety of tastes, making them a unique treat.

Among Bonifacio's wide and varied selection of sweets, there’s no shortage of creations for Venice’s grand celebrations. Traditional delights like Fugassa for Christmas and Colomba for Easter are joined by playful, colorful decorated eggs.
